Panel Discussion With Partners

Unless you’re at a large firm with institutional clients, making partner takes more than being a good lawyer, working hard and being dedicated. You need to be able to show your firm that you’ll be worth it. How? By making significant contributions above the line through business origination and revenue generation without adding pressure below the line from expenses. This Forum will examine the do's and don'ts of making partner, and show you how to make it even when the odds are against you.

This is the agenda for the session:

7:30 -  8:00 am: PRE FORUM NETWORKING

Before the Forum commences, participants and experts gather and become acquainted over a hearty breakfast

8:00 - 9:00 AM: ROUNDTABLE
Panelists will provide a brief overview of the do's and don'ts of making partner in a law firm.

9:00 - 9:45 AM: PANEL DISCUSSION
Panelists will participate in a moderated discussion about the different criteria for making partner in a small, medium and large law firm. Issues we will explore with the panelists include:

  • Business development: what skills do partners need?
  • Non-equity partnership: is it worth it?
  • Performance analysis: What's the firm looking for from your review
9:45 - 10:00 AM: SUMMARY SESSION
Panelists will review important themes and ideas emerging from the discussion so that participants can walk away with practical steps and suggestions.

10:00 - 1015 AM:  POST FORUM NETWORKING
After the Forum, interested participants can meet the panelists, and ask individual questions.
